It is designed for leaders and decision-makers responsible for shaping how AI is adopted within their organisation. it is particularly relevant for those involved in selecting solutions, making procurement decisions, and ensuring AI is implemented in a way that balances innovation with risk, compliance and ethical responsibility.

Unit Details

This unit focuses on the practical realities of adopting AI within an organisation, with an emphasis on informed decision-making, procurement and governance.

Learners will develop the knowledge and skills to:

  • Evaluate and select AI solutions using structured criteria such as cost, performance, risk and data readiness
  • Make informed procurement decisions based on testing, benchmarking and organisational priorities 
  • Identify and manage risks, including vendor lock-in, data privacy and ethical considerations
  • Design and implement governance frameworks to ensure responsible, compliant and transparent AI use
  • Establish assurance processes and human oversight, while monitoring performance and supporting continuous improvement

Entry Requirements

This unit is designed for individuals in leadership or decision-making roles who are responsible for influencing or approving how AI is adopted within their organisation.

To enrol, learners must:

  • Be aged 19 or over
  • Be in employment
  • Have employer support for the programme
  • Successfully complete a pre-assessment skills test

 

 

    

Delivery

The unit is delivered over five structured weeks, combining strategic understanding with practical application. 

Learners will engage with real-world scenarios, structured frameworks and practical activities, enabling them to apply learning directly within their organisation.

Progression

On completion, learners will be equipped to take ownership of AI adoption within their organisation, ensuring solutions are selected, implemented and governed in a responsible and effective way.

This unit forms the second part of a three-unit apprenticeship pathway, building on foundational knowledge and supporting progression into more advanced AI implementation and leadership. Learners who have completed AU0009: AI Strategy and Opportunities can continue their development through this unit and progress further to AU0011: AI Delivery & Organisational Transformation to complete the full pathway.
