Overview

Launched in August, the Improvement Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship provides apprentices with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours necessary to lead and implement change across various organisational functions and processes. By blending Lean and Six Sigma methodologies with project and change management principles, apprentices will learn to drive improvements, solve complex problems, and enhance business performance.

Improvement Technicians are essential in sectors such as automotive, banking, engineering, healthcare, food production, IT, retail, and more. They typically lead smaller projects or play a key role in larger programmes, addressing recurring challenges and identifying opportunities for improvement. Apprentices will develop expertise in diagnosing issues, proposing solutions, implementing changes, and coaching teams to share best practices.

As part of the apprenticeship, learners will gain hands-on experience in managing projects, motivating teams, and ensuring successful outcomes. Apprentices will work with stakeholders across functions, continuously improving processes while focusing on communication, sustainability, and long-term impact. This apprenticeship prepares apprentices for roles such as Business Improvement Practitioner, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Process Excellence Manager, and many other positions across diverse industries.
