Leonard Curtis is a multidisciplinary professional services firm operating across the UK and offshore, that enables businesses and their advisers to navigate difficulties and maximise opportunities.

Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Manchester, the business operates from 30 offices across the UK and offshore, with a strong presence in the Northwest.

Working across 5 specialist divisions, including restructuring and insolvency, funding, legal, business services and M&A advisory, Leonard Curtis offers employees a unique opportunity to gain insight into the full business lifecycle.

The Growth Company works in partnership with Leonard Curtis to deliver apprenticeships that support entry-level recruitment and long-term workforce development. Apprenticeships are used across several areas of the business, including the cashiers team, restructuring and insolvency and funding.

Programmes combine on-the-job learning with recognised qualifications such as the AAT Level 2 and Business Administration Level 3. To date, Leonard Curtis has recruited 7 apprentices through this partnership, with 4 having completed their programmes and progressing into larger roles within the organisation.

This partnership began when Leonard Curtis was looking to recruit an apprentice for its cashier team. Following a strong recommendation from an existing employee, the first apprentice was recruited through the Growth Company and soon after completed an AAT Level 2 qualification. Leonard Curtis describes the relationship with the Growth Company as very positive, supportive and hands-on. Communication is regular, approachable and easy to access, with the team viewed as a genuine partner rather than simply a training provider.

The Growth Company provides comprehensive support to Leonard Curtis, including end-to-end recruitment through advertising roles, screening candidates and conducting initial candidate calls. Ongoing support includes regular progress updates, exam and milestone notifications, and close collaboration between tutors, line managers and HR teams.

The partnership has also helped candidates better understand careers in insolvency and restructuring, supporting Leonard Curtis’ wider early careers strategy and improving employee engagement and retention. With our support, Leonard Curtis continues to build a strong pipeline of skilled, motivated talent, ensuring apprenticeships deliver a lasting impact for both the business and its people.

Andrew Pitts, Director at Leonard Curtis, said:

It was great to welcome the first cohort of apprentices to Leonard Curtis during 2024. Since that time, they’ve developed new skills, professionally, and perhaps personally, too. Their enthusiasm and willingness to learn has been great to witness. The mix of ‘on the job’ training and college attendance has helped them get to grips with working in a professional services environment. Their hard work has given us all something to celebrate when exams are passed and courses completed. The Growth Company played an integral part in the process from collating and supporting candidates through the recruitment process, to taking care of them at college and working with apprentices’ line managers to ensure any small issues are worked through in a proactive way.

It has been very rewarding to have played a part in their professional journey and to spend time with them in the office. They have all made excellent progress within their roles and professional education. I’m sure this will continue and look forward to seeing what the future brings.
