Recent changes to funding rules mean that more adults can now refresh their English and maths skills - even if they’ve previously achieved a Level 2 qualification or GCSE.
This is a game-changer for businesses and individuals alike. Whether your staff want to boost confidence in everyday tasks, improve communication or prepare for career progression, Functional Skills courses offer practical, workplace-relevant learning.
Why This Matters for Employers
-
Upskill your team: Strong English and maths skills improve productivity, accuracy and problem-solving.
-
Support personal development: Employees feel valued when you invest in their growth.
-
Future-proof your business: A skilled workforce is essential for adapting to change and driving success.
What’s Changed?
Previously, adults who already held a GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent were not eligible for funded Functional Skills courses. Now, those individuals may be able to access training to refresh and strengthen their skills, whether for work or personal reasons.
Eligibility is simple:
-
Learners will complete a short initial assessment to confirm their current skill level.
-
If their skills are below Level 2, they can access funded training – even if they achieved a GCSE years ago.
