The Property Maintenance Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship is designed to help apprentices develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours essential for a career in property maintenance. This role involves ensuring buildings are kept in excellent condition by performing a variety of tasks, such as routine maintenance, repairs, and installations, while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.

This programme emphasises practical, hands-on skills, an understanding of industry-specific tools and materials, and adherence to health and safety standards. Apprentices will also enhance their communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities, preparing them to excel in real-world maintenance environments.

Apprenticeship details

The Property Maintenance Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship provides the essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed for a successful career in property maintenance.

What it covers:

  • Knowledge: Understanding building structures, maintenance tools, materials, and health and safety regulations.
  • Skills: Performing routine maintenance, repairing systems, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring properties are well-maintained.
  • Behaviours: Demonstrating teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving, and delivering high-quality service.

Apprentices will develop a general knowledge and understanding of basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing and decorating. This programme equips apprentices with the expertise and confidence to excel in real-world property maintenance roles.

Delivery

Our Skills Development Tutors will visit apprentices on-site, working with them to meet employer’s specific needs and expectations.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this apprenticeship. As part of the programme, apprentices will achieve maths and English at Level 1, with the opportunity to progress to the next level.

Progression

On successful completion, apprentices can progress into higher-level apprenticeships. They may also specialise in trades like electrical, plumbing, or carpentry, or pursue further qualifications in construction and property management. This pathway opens doors to supervisory roles and career advancement in the property and maintenance sectors.
