Apprenticeship details
The Level 2 Fenestration Installer Apprenticeship covers the key skills, knowledge, and behaviours required to thrive in the fenestration industry.
Knowledge
Apprentices will develop an understanding of:

Different types of fenestration products, materials (aluminium, uPVC, timber, steel) and components.

Manufacturing processes, technical drawings and specifications.

Industry standards, regulations and quality requirements.

Health and safety, manual handling and safe use of tools and machinery.

Environmental considerations, waste management and safe storage of materials.
Skills
Apprentices will learn to:

Measure, cut, shape and prepare materials accurately.

Operate machinery, hand tools and fabrication equipment safely.

Assemble windows, doors, frames and ancillary components.

Install glazing, seals, gaskets and fittings to specification.

Follow production schedules, complete records and carry out quality checks.

Our Skills Development Tutors will visit apprentices on-site, working with them to meet employer’s specific needs and expectations.
Entry requirements
There are no formal grade requirements for this apprenticeship. However, apprentices aged 16 to 18 who do not hold Level 2 English and maths qualifications will usually need to achieve them before the end-point assessment.
For apprentices aged 19 and over, Functional Skills may no longer be mandatory, but alternative qualifications or exemptions may apply depending on individual circumstances and agreements between the employer and training provider.
Progression
On successful completion, apprentices can progress to advanced qualifications or move into senior and supervisory roles within the fenestration or wider manufacturing industry.
