On successful completion, learners will achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating.
Course details
The course consists of the following 9 mandatory units:
- Apply paint systems by brush and roller
- Apply standard papers to ceilings and walls
- Apply water-borne paint systems using high volume low pressure (HVLP) spay equipment
- Erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms
- Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
- Knowledge of construction technology
- Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
- Prepare surfaces for decoration
- Produce specialist decorative finishes
Learners will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements derived from the National Occupational Standards. The training and assessment will be carried out by a qualified trainer with relevant industry experience, who will guide learners through completing their qualification.

- Aged 19+
- Earns less than £25,000
Progression
After completing the Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating, learners can progress to a variety of roles within the construction and decorating sectors. They may pursue further qualifications such as the Level 3 Diploma in Painting and Decorating, which would enable them to take on more advanced responsibilities and potentially lead teams.
