The Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Health and Social Care is designed for individuals interested in starting a career in adult social care. This programme covers essential areas such as communication, equality, diversity, personal development, the role of the social care worker, handling information, health and safety, safeguarding, duty of care, and person-centred approaches.
The Study Programme will include a Hairdressing and Barbering qualification, plus a combination of qualifications which can include Essential Digital Skills, Employability Skills, Health and Safety and Maths and English (if needed). Learners will also be given the opportunity to complete a work placement/work experience whilst studying.

Qualification
- On successful completion, learners will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.
- They can also gain qualifications in Employability Skills, Maths and English.
Course details
This qualification comprises of the following nine mandatory units:
- Principles of communication in adult social care settings
- Principles of personal development in adult social care settings
- Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care
- Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
- Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
- Understand the role of the Social Care Worker
- Understand person centred approaches in adult social care settings
- Understand health and safety in social care settings
- Understand how to handle information in social care settings
Delivery
This programme will be delivered on site at one of our training centres in Greater Manchester. We have space for learners to join this course throughout the year.
Entry requirements
- Learners must have Level 1 qualifications in maths and English (equivalent to Grade 3 GCSE) or to be working at a level 1 standard, this will be assessed during induction.
- Learners must have previously completed a Level 1 in Health and Social Care.
Additional support:
Learners will receive a bursary of up to £10.50* per day.
*Subject to adhering to the attendance and behaviour polices.
