On successful completion, learners will achieve a Level 2 Award in Computer Programming.

Course details

This course focuses on computer programming, introducing the principles that underpin how programming works. Delivered in Python, it is designed to provide learners with a foundational understanding of the field and develop text-based programming skills for designing and building their own computer programs.

Over the course of 8 weeks, learners will:

  • Understand the core principles of programming
  • Design a program based on a client brief
  • Develop a program using a text-based programming language
  • Test, refine, document, and review the program

By the end of the course, learners will have the skills to create and evaluate their own computer programs, laying the groundwork for further exploration in the world of programming.

Entry requirements 

Applicants must have a GCSE Grade 4/A* or above in maths and English.

Eligibility for funding:

This course is fully funded to individuals who:

  • Are a Greater Manchester Resident
  • Aged 19+
  • Earns less than £25,000

Progression

On successful completion, learners can progress to a variety of pathways, including further study in computer programming or specialised areas like web development and data science.
